We are excited to be participating in Christmas Hampers this year in a new a different way!
As a parish community, Annunciation is hoping to provide 36 hampers for families in need this Christmas. You are invited to sponsor a family as an individual or as a team. So, sponsor a family today and make a difference in someone’s Christmas.
*If you wish to make a Christmas Hamper as a team, with other family or friends, we ask that you coordinate amongst your team and appoint one contact person who will be responsible for contacting the parish and the family.
Below you will find the instruction on how be a sponsor this Christmas AND a detailed instructions on what to include.
How to be a Sponsor
- Review the “What to Include” list below and decide what family size you wish to sponsor.
- Email the parish at outreach@annunciation-ottawa.com indicating your wish to sponsor a hamper and the family size.
- A parish representative will contact you shortly thereafter with the name of the family you’ll be sponsoring and their contact information.
- You will need to get in touch with the family to determine a time on December 18 to drop off the hamper. It will be your responsibility to deliver the hamper this year to reduce the number of touch points.
- Arrange to stock your hamper with all the items listed below according to the size of family.
- *You are not required to purchase a chicken or a turkey. The parish will be providing the chickens and turkeys as we can lower the cost via bulk order. You will be required to pick up your turkey on December 18 at the parish.
- Due to COVID-19, gifts for children should be given in the form of one gift card per child valued at $25-$30.
- On December 18, please come to the parish to pick up your turkey and then proceed to deliver your Christmas Hamper to your sponsorship family.

HAMPER GUIDELINES (What to include):
Hampers should not contain money, lottery tickets, alcoholic, or tobacco/cannabis products.
For liability reasons, we ask that you do not include any home baking or homemade goods.
The total cost to provide a hamper may be between $75 and $150, depending on the size of the family.
Recommended Guidelines on What to Include for a Festive Christmas Hamper:
SMALL HAMPER FOR FAMILY OF 1 TO 2 PEOPLE
- 14 oz can of Green Peas or Green/Yellow Beans
- Can of Cranberries
- Box(es) of Stuffing
- Can of Hot Chocolate or Coffee or Tea
- Cookies or Other Dessert
- 1 lb of Butter
- 2 lb bag of Carrots
- 5 lb bag of Potatoes
- 2 lb bag of Onions
- Loaf of Bread
- 1 litre of 2% Milk
- Bag of Fresh Oranges or Bag of Fresh Apples or Box of Clementines
- Gift card for a child if necessary (value $25-$30)
Whole Chicken – Will be provided by Annunciation and picked up on Dec 18th.
MEDIUM HAMPER FOR FAMILY OF 3 TO 5 PEOPLE
- 2x 14 oz Can of Green Peas or Green/Yellow Beans
- Can of Cranberries
- Box(es) of Stuffing
- Can of Hot Chocolate or Coffee or Tea
- Cookies OR Other Dessert
- 1 lb of Butter
- 2 lb bag of Carrots
- 5 lb bag of Potatoes
- 2 lb bag of Onions
- Loaf of Bread
- 1 litre of 2% Milk
- Bag of Fresh Oranges or Bag of Fresh Apples or Box of Clementines
- A gift card for each child in the family (value $25-$30)
12 – 16 lb Turkey – Will be provided by Annunciation and picked up on Dec 18th.

16 – 20 lb Turkey – Will be provided by Annunciation and picked up on Dec 18th.
