Two months ago, on March 11th, 2020 the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic. So much in our life has changed.
This week we continue to pray for residents of Laurier Manor and Madonna Care Community. Both facilities are experiencing severe outbreaks of COVID-19. Please continue to join Fr. John on Facebook at 3 p.m. for a daily prayer of the Divine Mercy Chaplet for those affected.
Yesterday was Mother’s Day and the kickoff for the first-ever Virtual National March for Life.
For the last several years, Sue Atkinson, our parish’s Pro-Life representative, has organized a bus load of parishioners to participate in the March for Life in downtown Ottawa. This year, a week of virtual events have been organized. You can participate in several live-streamed events from the comfort of your own home, including free online movies, a candlelight vigil and a virtual Pro-Life Rally. We invite you to visit the March for Life website for events and times.
Also, Mother’s Day has traditionally been the start of the Catholic Women’s League’s (CWL) annual fundraising campaign in aid of St. Mary’s Home, an Ottawa-based social service agency supporting young pregnant women, young moms and dads and their children.
In past years, parishioners were encouraged to take a baby bottle home, fill it with loose change over a couple of weeks and return it on Father’s Day. This year we encourage you to visit the Canada Helps page for St. Mary’s Home and donate.
Thank you all for your continued prayers of support. We are praying for you. Please pray for us.
