Vacation Bible School – Discover that God is Monumental!

Vacation Bible School will take place from July 25 to 29 at Annunciation of the Lord Parish.  This is a wonderful opportunity for children to encounter Jesus and begin a life-long relationship with Him.  Interested to learn more or to register, check out our website at www.annunciation-ottawa.com//events/vacation-bible-school-2/

VBS Décor Parties – Church Hall

Sunday, June 26th, 1 – 4 pm
Wednesday, July 6th, 6:30 – 9:30 pm

Calling all parishioners, ages 12 – 112!  You are invited to help prepare décor items to be used to transform the hall and common areas to a desert-like setting for our VBS camp.  You don’t need to be creative or artistic, handy or strong.  A love of God, a desire to share His grace and perhaps some older attire (paint clothes) is all you need.  We will provide materials, instructions, snacks and fun!

Fr. Rob News!

Our own Fr. Rob has been appointed by the Archbishop to serve as the English Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral and Mission Services for the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall.  The appointment is part-time and he will continue in his role as Pastor of Annunciation of the Lord.  Congrats Fr. Rob.

Cameron Turner & Family

The recent storm that hit our city has affected thousands. We continue to pray for those who have been affected and continue to be affected.

Our very own, Cam and Sara Turner, were hit hard. Thankfully, they were not home when the storm hit. However, their home suffered extensive damage and they have been forced to evacuate. Their home has been deemed ‘structurally unsound’.

If you’d like to support Cameron and Sara during this difficult time, a Go Fund Me page has been set up to accept donations for them.

Spiritual Bouquet for Deacon Joshua

Parishioners are invited to offer up prayers, rosaries, novenas, masses and time in adoration for Deacon Joshua’s ordination which will take place on June 4.  There are paper flowers as prayer indicators available in the Narthex, or make your own.  “Plant” your paper flower in the garden on the bulletin board located in the Narthex.  There will also be a notebook in the Narthex if you would like to leave a longer message for Deacon Joshua on his very special day.

The newly ordained Father Joshua will celebrate his first Mass on Sunday, June 5th at the 10:00 am Mass. A luncheon reception will follow. Come and celebrate!

Your Help is Needed

Thank you to everyone who answered the call to help with puled pork and slow cookers.

Planning is underway for the luncheon reception to celebrate Fr. Joshua’s ordination and first Mass at Annunciation of the Lord.  The parish will be serving pulled pork sandwiches.

We require the following:

  • To compliment the pulled pork sandwiches, parishioners are invited to contribute assorted salads, veggie trays, fruit trays, desserts, chips, or cheese and crackers.  A pot luck sign-up sheet will be available in the Narthex.
  • Six volunteers to help set up tables and chairs before 10 am on Sunday, June 5th and another six people to help clean up and put tables and chairs away after the event.
  • To volunteer, please email Lorie at volunteers@annunciation-ottawa.com.

Synod Update

We are pleased to inform you that the formal Synod process is now complete at Annunciation! Your feedback from the small group sessions was so incredibly appreciated and has provided us with important information. Reports have been submitted to the Archdiocese and to Fr. Rob and the parish leadership team. These will be used to help guide us in the right direction as a parish and the Church as a whole.

Two of the main points to come out of your sharing is how much we’re longing for togetherness and to grow our  community. These past two years have been so isolating and have created a great deal of separation. Moving forward, we are all looking forward to being together again as a group, as well as reaching out to our community, in hopes of giving them a place to call home. We are finding practical ways to make that more achievable and we can’t wait to see the results! Thank you again for putting in your 2 cents. You are a part of creating tomorrow’s Church!

Call for Ushers

Would you like to volunteer at the parish but don’t know where to begin.  How about considering serving as an Usher at one of the weekend Masses.  It is a great way to meet fellow parishioners and to be a welcoming presence for people who may be attending Annunciation of the Lord for the first time.  In addition to welcoming people, you will also assist in taking up collection.  The need for ushers is greatest at the 10:00 a.m. and Noon Masses.  For more information, contact Lorie at volunteers@annunciation-ottawa.com
