It’s Ordination Weekend!
This weekend, Dcn. Joshua will complete his journey to the priesthood. He’ll be ordained to the priesthood Saturday, June 4 at 9:00 am at Notre Dame Cathedral-Basilica.
Please join him at the Cathedral for his ordination. You’re all invited! A reception will follow.
On Pentecost Sunday, then Fr. Joshua will be celebrating his first Mass with us at the 10:00 am Mass. A potluck, pulled pork, reception will follow! Bring your lawn chairs, something for the pot luck, and don’t forget the splash pad is available for the young at heart! Come and celebrate all that God is doing in Dcn. Joshua’s life and Annunciation Parish.
Comings and goings
Some changes to the Annunciation household of priests is in the works. As mentioned last week, Fr. Rob was appointed by Archbishop Marcel to serve as the English Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral and Mission Services for the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall. Thankfully the appointment is part-time and he will continue in his role as Pastor of Annunciation of the Lord.
Fr. John is not going anywhere either, but leaves next week for a long-awaited trip to Oberammergau. A trip that was postponed for 2 years due to Covid-19. He will be back mid-June.
Our beloved Fr. Dennis has moved to New Brunswick to take up residence with Bishop Christian and keep him company. But don’t worry about Fr. Rob and Fr. John. They won’t be lonely. Fr. David Bergeron, Pastor of Notre Dame Cathedral, will move into the house and the newly ordained Fr. Joshua Grandmaison will also take up residence at Annunciation.
Welcome Back
As you may have heard in the Pastor’s Chat this weekend, Dcn. Joshua hails from Annunciation of the Lord Parish! We are very excited to announce that Dcn. Joshua will be staying with us for a while as he has been assigned to our parish!
Vacation Bible School – Discover that God is Monumental!
Vacation Bible School will take place from July 25 to 29 at Annunciation of the Lord Parish. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to encounter Jesus and begin a life-long relationship with Him. Interested to learn more or to register, check out our website at www.annunciation-ottawa.com//events/vacation-bible-school-2/
VBS Décor Parties – Church Hall
Sunday, June 26th, 1 – 4 pm
Wednesday, July 6th, 6:30 – 9:30 pm
Calling all parishioners, ages 12 – 112! You are invited to help prepare décor items to be used to transform the hall and common areas to a desert-like setting for our VBS camp. You don’t need to be creative or artistic, handy or strong. A love of God, a desire to share His grace and perhaps some older attire (paint clothes) is all you need. We will provide materials, instructions, snacks and fun!
Call for Ushers
Would you like to volunteer at the parish but don’t know where to begin. How about considering serving as an Usher at one of the weekend Masses. It is a great way to meet fellow parishioners and to be a welcoming presence for people who may be attending Annunciation of the Lord for the first time. In addition to welcoming people, you will also assist in taking up collection. The need for ushers is greatest at the 10:00 a.m. and Noon Masses. For more information, contact Lorie at volunteers@annunciation-ottawa.com
Synod Update
We are pleased to inform you that the formal Synod process is now complete at Annunciation! Your feedback from the small group sessions was so incredibly appreciated and has provided us with important information. Reports have been submitted to the Archdiocese and to Fr. Rob and the parish leadership team. These will be used to help guide us in the right direction as a parish and the Church as a whole.
Two of the main points to come out of your sharing is how much we’re longing for togetherness and to grow our community. These past two years have been so isolating and have created a great deal of separation. Moving forward, we are all looking forward to being together again as a group, as well as reaching out to our community, in hopes of giving them a place to call home. We are finding practical ways to make that more achievable and we can’t wait to see the results! Thank you again for putting in your 2 cents. You are a part of creating tomorrow’s Church!

Cameron Turner & Family
The recent storm that hit our city has affected thousands. We continue to pray for those who have been affected and continue to be affected. Our very own, Cam and Sara Turner, were hit hard. Thankfully, they were not home when the storm hit. However, their home suffered extensive damage and they have been forced to evacuate. Their home has been deemed ‘structurally unsound’.
If you’d like to support Cameron and Sara during this difficult time, a Go Fund Me page has been set up to accept donations for them.
