DIVE A LITTLE DEEPER – LENT 2023

This Sunday, we enter Holy Week. Keeping in your heart the person you’re offering your Lent for, how can you set this week apart?
As Catholics, the best way to enter into the events of Jesus’ passion and death is to attend Triduum. This celebration, which spans three entire days, is the summit of the Liturgical year! There is nothing quite like it.
Triduum begins on Holy Thursday evening with what seems at first like a regular mass. Midway, we have the washing of the feet, and the commemoration of the Last Supper. But the mass doesn’t end. Instead, we leave in silence, with Jesus in the Eucharist left on an altar; we are invited to stay and pray with him throughout the night.
On Good Friday, we continue in silence. There is no opening song because this is a continuation of what Holy Thursday began. In fact, Good Friday is the one day where we do not celebrate Mass. We venerate the cross and pray together for the world. Once more, we leave in silence.
The final part of Triduum is the Easter Vigil. We enter in darkness and silence, as before. But something is different. We listen to the entire story of salvation history and light the Easter fire before bursting into light and song and celebration. Christ has conquered sin and death! We also welcome new adults into the church through Baptism, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.
Will you join us for Triduum this year?

PARISH NEWS
No Stations of the Cross this Friday

The Holy Week Adventure begins tomorrow! Over the course of two days, 300+ kids and parents will walk through the events of Holy Week in a tangible and interactive way. Along the path they’ll meet Benjamin, the man who gave his donkey for Jesus to ride on Palm Sunday, the apostle Peter, Claudia (wife of Pilate), the soldier at the tomb, Mary Magdalene, and Jesus’ mother Mary.
This year, Brother Andre school and TD Mcgee school will be bringing over students to participate in the experience. Thank you to the CWL who sponsored the bus for Brother Andre and made their experience possible! Please pray for all the students and parents who will be attending, that they would encounter Jesus’ love in a new and powerful way.
There are still a few tickets left; click here to get yours today! The cost is $5/person, or $20/family (2 and under are free).
Tonight (March 29) we are setting up decor for the Adventure and need helping hands! If you want to help bring this experience to life for the kids, join us in the Hall from 5 – 7:30 pm. We have all the supplies and ideas. We just need help to make it happen!
