PARISH NEWS
WEEKEND MASS HOSPITALITY
We are once again starting up our Fellowship following Sunday morning Masses, and everyone is welcome!
Please join us in the parish Hall after the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses. Come for the cookies. Come for the coffee and tea. But most importantly, come to share fellowship with other parishioners at Annunciation! We can’t wait to see you. You bring your smile – we will supply everything else!
We are also looking for volunteers to help out with our Fellowship Ministry. You would be working as part of a team (not alone), and would be needed no more than once a month. If you are interested in helping to set up, clean up, or be a greeter, then we would love to hear from you! Please send an email with your contact information to the parish at faithandmission@annunciation-ottawa.com
HORIZONS OF HOPE
The “Horizons of Hope” course on palliative care was brought forward by the Canadian Council of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) to address the need for a better understanding of palliative care. Comprised of 4 modules, it explores the Catholic teaching on palliative care and the end of life, medical & ethical approaches, as well as the Compassionate Community model.
Participants can engage in meaningful reflection and conversation on faith, the experience of dying, and palliative care. HOH is a toolkit designed to help each of us—caregivers, family members, the sick and the dying—find support and concrete assistance.
The course will run at Annunciation over four Mondays in October from 10:00am to 12:00pm, beginning October 2. Refreshments will be provided. Binders with course descriptions and reference materials will be available for the cost of $10.
To register, please contact Rob and Shirley Hayes at vincehayes65@gmail.com.

ENCOUNTER SCHOOL OF MINISTRY
Drawing from the richness of our Catholic heritage, Encounter School of Ministry seeks to teach, equip and activate disciples to demonstrate the love of God through the power of the Holy Spirit in their sphere of influence.
Encounter School of Ministry is a 2 year program held on Tuesday evenings from September to May, at St. Mary’s Parish, 100 Young St, 6:30pm-9:30pm.
Participants have found the program to be transformative, empowering them to more fully embrace their baptismal identity as beloved sons and daughters of God and as disciples of Jesus. Throughout the course, participants learn how to activate spiritual gifts given to them by the Holy Spirit, how to hear the voice of God for themselves and others, how to pray for healing, how to share the gospel with others, and much more.
If you would like to learn more, feel free to attend the Orientation evening (Tuesday Sept 5, 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm) and the first three (free) classes (Tuesdays Sept 12, 19 and 26, 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm) at St. Mary’s . Let God speak to your heart through your experience. The application process closes on Monday, Oct 2!
