Annunciation Parish is being invited to participate in the historic procession of Canada’s National Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of the Cape to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. There, 80,000 Catholics will celebrate the Source and Summit of our faith at the National Eucharistic Congress from July 17 – 21, 2024.

This is part of a 3-year revival by the USCCB in the belief by Catholics in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. The organizers of the congress have invited the Marian Devotional Movement and the World Apostolate of Fatima to process the pilgrim statues of Our Lady of the Cape and Our Lady of Fatima across Canada. One will come from Eastern Canada, the other from Western Canada, and the two will meet in Indianapolis simultaneously.

Our Lady of the Cape will be carried on an ‘Ark’ filled with our consecrations and prayer intentions and brought to the congress. We can participate in this endeavour by:

  • Finding blank forms at the Welcome Desk in the narthex.
  • Praying the Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
  • Signing the Consecration.
  • Writing our prayer intentions on the reverse side of the Consecration.
  • Putting the completed forms into the wooden box (our ‘Ark’) at the welcome desk.

Our parish will ensure that these completed forms are delivered to Angelina and Dennis Girard of the Marian Devotional Movement. These forms will be placed into the Ark when it arrives in Ottawa. The Pilgrim Statue will arrive at St. Patrick’s Basilica on Saturday, July 6th at 4:00 PM.

This year, Annunciation is hosting a retreat for senior youth (grades 9-12) at Waupoos Farm from May 4-5th. The cost is $40 to cover food. Those interested can click here to register. Registrants will receive packing instructions and further information closer to the date.

All seniors are invited to join us monthly for Mass, fellowship, and good food. There is no cost to attend (though a free-will offering is appreciated), so invite a friend! This month, we will have a special recitation of the Rosary prior to Mass.

Our May speaker is parishioner Joan Wills. Joan is the lead person for our Holy Spirit prayer group and has been an active member in both the Charismatic Renewal and in our parish for many years.

Date/Time: May 15, 12pm

Registration closes at 12am on May 9 in order to give enough time to purchase meal supplies.

If you are interested in attending, please email Connie at

Five years ago, the National March for Life was thrilled to have the film “Unplanned” premiere in Ottawa as part of March for Life week.

On May 8th, Abby Johnson is coming back to Ottawa with her latest film “Unthinkable”, and you’re invited to attend this private Canadian premiere on Wednesday May 8th at 4pm. Following the screening, Abby and film director Drew Martin will take the stage for a panel discussion moderated by Canadian filmmaker Kevin Dunn and some Q&A from the audience. The event should wrap up around 6pm.

The good news: It’s FREE, and it’s being held once again at the Canadian Museum of History at 100 Laurier Street, in Gatineau, a short drive from Parliament Hill. Space is limited, so if you’re interested in being part of the first Canadian audience to watch Abby’s latest film, please RSVP to save your seat. Feel free to invite your family and friends and others in the pro-life community.

Go to to RSVP. Upon registration, you should receive a digital ticket with additional information. Please bring a copy of the ticket to the screening or have it ready on your phone. If you have any questions, feel free to call 613-729-0379.

Join the Servants of the Cross as we prepare for the feast of Pentecost with a virtual Pentecost Novena and a book reading of the inspiring book: The Cross and the Switchblade. The Cross and the Switchblade is the story of a country preacher who, step by step, answered a call to do greater things than Jesus did. If you have a hard time “crossing that chicken line” and believing his call on your life, join us for this transformational weekend.

FUN FACT: Did you know that this book was read during that infamous retreat weekend in Duquesne University, that the experience propelled renewal in the Catholic Church back in 1967? Come Holy Spirit!

Let’s meet over a weekend and read this amazing book together! We don’t need to be chickens anymore; let’s share the Gospel with all those we meet.
