Come encounter the mercy of God in the confessional and prepare your heart for the arrival of Jesus this Christmas! Our Advent Reconciliation will run from 12pm-3pm on Saturday, Dec 9.

If confession makes you nervous, you’re not alone! It takes great courage to face our sins, and it takes even more to speak them aloud. But God’s mercy is endless. There is no sin so great that he would stop loving us. Bringing our worst shames to light and still being loved unconditionally in return is a healing experience.

If you are anxious about whether something is or is not a sin, ask the priest for guidance. He is there to help you through this process. Priests have been set by God as shepherds of the Church, and—just like a shepherd cares for a wounded sheep—part of a priest’s role is to help us with our spiritual wounds. And remember: Priests sin too! They aren’t perfect, and you won’t scandalize them. If anything, seeing you come to confession brings them great joy.

To help make confession easier, we’ve put together a step-by-step guide to confession for teens & adults and for children, along with an examination of conscience.

We have only a few hampers left in need of sponsorship and are still in need of 121 gift cards. Check out the Advent Outreach page to learn how you can help us support every family on our sponsorship list this year!

For over 35 years, Annunciation and St. Gabriel’s have volunteered at the Shepherds of Good Hope’s soup kitchen on Sundays, during January & September, serving Ottawa’s most vulnerable. Hunger is a very real need in our community. We think of the words of Jesus in scripture—“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat”—and our hearts are moved to serve!

Shepherds of Good Hope is serving more and more in our community as needs grow, and is looking for more volunteers. To keep fulfilling our parish commitment to their ministry, we want to grow our volunteer base! We are hoping to send 15 volunteers every Sunday in January to serve alongside other volunteers from 8:15am – 1:00pm.

If this ministry speaks to your heart, and you feel it may be something to which God is calling you, please reach out to Christine at There are other times you can serve even if Sunday mornings don’t work for you.

Come encounter Jesus in the Eucharist

Join us on Dec 20 at 7:30pm for a night of prayer and Eucharistic Adoration with Praise & Worship. The evening begins with Adoration, with a talk midway through. The sacrament of confession will be available beginning at 8:30pm. All are welcome!

Our 11am choir has created a playlist of the worship we’ll be singing during the Advent Masses.

The next meeting of the Catholic Women’s League will be our Christmas Potluck celebration on WEDNESDAY, December 13th at 6:00 PM. You are invited to bring a dish of hors d’oeuvres to share. Please bring your own plates and cutlery to minimize clean-up. Dessert is being provided. And please lug a mug.

For our Christmas project, we are again collecting personal care products and other items for the women who are served by Minwaashin Lodge. If you have a gently used housecoat or PJ’s or slippers that you are no longer using, bring them along for a basket of used items. We look forward to seeing you. We invite you to bring a friend.

CWL also continues to collect used stamps for the Miriam Centre. Please cut the stamps from your envelopes. Bring them in and put them in the grey box located beside the lost & found to the right of the welcome desk.
