PARISH NEWS

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION

This coming Sunday is Corpus Christi, the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ! To celebrate this special feast, we will be having a Eucharist procession after the 11 am Mass.

SPONSOR OUR PARISH YOUTH!

Why do 19 Annunciation high school students want to spend their summer attending the Steubenville Atlantic conference? Check out the video below to find out!

Our youth are currently fundraising the costs of flights in order to attend. This is a great opportunity to support our parish youth as they grow deeper in their faith! If you are interested in making a donation towards their trip, click here and select “Steubenville” from the dropdown menu. The youth will also be speaking during Masses this weekend, and will be available following each Mass to take donations and share more about this amazing trip.

HOLY YEAR PILGRIMAGE

We are excited to officially announce the dates for the next upcoming Pilgrimage with Fr John Likozar from June 25, 2025 – July 03, 2025 in the beautifully spiritual and historical city of Rome, Italy!

The Rome Jubilee, also declared by Pope Francis as “The Holy Year”, holds profound significance in the Catholic Church, attracting millions of pilgrims and explorers from across the globe to the Eternal City. Occurring every 25 years, the Rome Jubilee represents a period of spiritual rejuvenation, contemplation, and festivity, and in 2025, we extend a heartfelt invitation for you to be part of this extraordinary experience.

There will be an Information Session (with some Italian-themed refreshments of course!) in the Parish Hall at 2 pm on Sunday, May 26th, with representatives from Collette Tours and Algonquin Travel & Cruise who will outline the itinerary in a presentation and answer questions.

Attached are some initial details for the tour and the optional extension to Venice and Padua, including but not limited to:

  • Visits to the 7 Jubilee Churches
  • Papal Blessing and Mass at Vatican and St Peter’s Square
  • Visit to the Birthplace of St Francis of Assisi
  • Access to Jubilee events including the Opening of the Holy Door at St Peter’s Basilica

The airfare options to/from Rome have not yet been released by the airlines and we expect to have further details mid-summer, 2024. The hotel stay in Rome is at the Hotel St Martin, a centrally located hotel near Rome’s main train station for ease of accessibility. A deposit of $349 CAD per person secures your spot and the balance would be due in March, 2025.

Meanwhile, if you would like to register for the Information Session on May 26th at 2 pm in the Parish Hall, please call Elaine Simpson at Algonquin Travel & Cruise Centre (613-748-3600) or email Elaine@travia.ca

This pilgrimage offers an unparalleled opportunity to partake in the Rome Jubilee 2025 and uncover the enchanting allure of the Eternal City. We hope you will join us for an indelible pilgrimage, cultural odyssey, and spiritual awakening amidst the heart of Italy.

HANDICRAFT HOLY LAND

On the weekend of June 8-9, we will welcome our special guest Paul from Sebastien Cardinal’s team, representing “Handicraft Holy Land Christians”. After all the Masses, he will briefly address the issues and concerns regarding the Christian presence in the Holy Land.

Christians in the Holy Land graciously ask your support through prayers and will have many unique hand-carved olive wood religious pieces made by these families in Bethlehem, which will be available for purchase after every Mass. Proceeds of the sales generate much needed employment for our Christian brothers and sisters in Bethlehem. Cash, debit, credit cards and cheque will be accepted.

You can visit and support at www.HolylandChristians.ca

SENIORS MASS & LUNCHEON

All seniors are invited to join us monthly for Mass, fellowship, and good food. There is no cost to attend (though a free-will offering is appreciated), so invite a friend! This month will be our last event before the summer. To make it special, we’ll be serving a sumptuous roast beef dinner, provided by the Mission Catering staff.

Our June speaker is our very own Fr. Kevin Darwent! Celebrating his first anniversary of ordination on June 18th, we are blessed to have him speak.

Date/Time: June 19, 12pm

Registration closes at 12am on June 13th to help us plan for meal numbers.

WISHLIST

We are a growing parish! Our goal is to create an environment that welcome new people and gives them a home. We dream of a passionate missionary church transforming the world, and we work to invite people to know Jesus and empower them to share Jesus.

Sometimes our dreams surpass our budgets; that’s where you come in! Our Wishlist is an online platform where we can post items/resources we’d love for our ministries that don’t currently fit our budgets. Check out our current projects below and click on them to see each wishlist. They change with our needs, and when someone purchases an item from a list, it disappears.

Currently, we are looking to replace our two Seek & Find books. They are the most popular items in our collection and have started to come apart.

*Please note that these are gifts and do not qualify for tax receipts. Thank you for your generosity!

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

DIOCESAN TULIPATHON

As a proud member of MHI, the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall is committed to supporting our fellow community members who are in need of safe and affordable housing. Hundreds of MHI tenants require a bit of support each month to help make ends meet. Each year, MHI provides approximately $400,000 in subsidies to ensure that individuals and families continue to have stable housing. People are better able to move forward with their lives if they are first housed.

“The subsidy we receive means that my family and I can have a nice place to live, in a nice little community and a safe place we can call home.” – MHI Tenant

Every year, MHI hosts Tulipathon, a 3K walkathon fundraiser at Dow’s Lake. MHI’s 70+ faith group members are invited to walk among the tulips to raise funds for subsidies and awareness for the need for more affordable housing in our city.

Registration Starts: 2:00 PM
Opening Ceremony: 2:30 PM
Walkathon Begins: 3:00 PM

How can you help?

Please support our diocesan team by making a donation at https://www.classy.org/team/575378. The process is fast, easy, and secure, and you can be sure that it will benefit an individual or a family in need!

We also encourage you to come out and join us on Sunday, May 26th at Commissioners Park (across from Dow’s Lake) at 3 PM. Check out MHI’s website www.multifaithhousing.ca/tulipathon for more information about this year’s Tulipathon. Bring a parish banner to hold!

100% of Tulipathon net proceeds go towards MHI’s rent subsidies program for our tenants at MHI’s various affordable housing sites. Fundraising will close on June 30th.

We invite you to have a taste of the talks that you would receive from the first 4 quarters of the Encounter School of Ministry (Identity & Transformation, Hearing God & the Prophetic Gifts, Power & Healing, and Inner Healing & Freedom).

  • 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm EST (5:30 pm supper – optional)
