God died for our sins. He took the place of our sins so that we would not have to be on the cross. Because of that act of sacrifice, we are now made free. We are set free from our sins and brought back into reunion with God.
How should we react to such a message?
- Give thanks and be grateful to God for what he has done for us.
- Desire to change our ways. It is our sins that put Jesus there. Jesus came to counsel us how to live. Turn away from sin and seek to do God’s will.
- In gratitude, tell others of what God has done for them, what he offers them. Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross was not meant just for the few that were there. It was meant for all of humanity. We are called to share that message. It is the good news of the Father’s love. It is the good news of the sons sacrifice. If we truly want to receive it, we need to share it with those who despair, and those who are hopeless.
This is why we call it Good Friday, because God has shown his goodness to us.
