At the beginning of May, Fr. Dan prayed a beautiful prayer over us during his homily. After a number of requests, we’re providing a transcript version of the prayer that you can bring with you into your own prayer time:

Lord Jesus, we want to increase in trust, we want to trust you more deeply; help us do that

  • help us to recall how you’ve come through for us in the past

  • help us to see all the blessings you’ve already given to us

  • Help us to experience right now how real and how good you are

  • Jesus, give us a greater heart of trust in you

Jesus, we open ourselves to your promises; we receive them as you speak them over us now;

If you are…

In a season of feeling weary, tired: Jesus promises you today, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28)

Overwhelmed by worry: Jesus says to you, “Cast all your worries upon me, because I care for you” (1 Peter 5:7)

Needing strength and courage in this particular season of your life: Jesus says to you, “Fear not, for I am with you, I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you” (Is 41:10)

Feeling alone or feel that God is not present to you: Jesus says to you,

  • “Remember, I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20)

  • “I will never leave you or forsake you” (Deut 31:8)

  • “If you seek me, you will find me” (Jeremiah 29:13

In a season of mourning or grieving: Jesus says to you,

  • “Blessed are you who mourn, for I will comfort you” (Matthew 5:4)

  • “I am near you who are broken hearted” (Psalm 34:18)

  • “My peace I give to you, let not your heart be troubled” (John 14:27)

Needing freedom in your life: Jesus says to you, “in your distress, I will answer you and set you free” (Psalm 118:5)

Needing God’s particular provision: Jesus says to you,

  • “I will bless you abundantly” (2 Cor 9:8)

  • “I will fully satisfy every need of yours according to my glorious riches” (Phil 4:19)

Finding yourself in an impossible situation: Jesus says to you, “I am with you, and with me all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26)

Feeling discouraged or powerless in your present circumstance or situation: Jesus says to you,

  • “I have made you for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14)

  • “You can do all things through me who strengthens you” (Phil 4:13)

For all of us, whatever life circumstance we find ourselves in today, Jesus promises us:

  • “I have come that you may have life and have it to the full” (John 10:10)

  • “I put my joy in you, that your joy may be complete and abundant” (John 15:11)

Lord Jesus, thank you for all that you promise to us. With hearts of trust, we receive them, and we give you permission to make them bear fruit in our lives today.
